Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

Nurtured at Home™ is committed to protecting the privacy of the children, families, Educators/Nannies and employees we work with, and of everyone who visits our website. We collect, store, use, share and destroy personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect and why

Children and families: enrolment information, as required by the Ministry of Education and the licensing criteria, so we can provide safe care and education.

Educators/Nannies: application and safety-check information, including Police vets for Educators/Nannies and their household members, as required by the Children's Act 2014.

Employees: the information we need to employ and pay our team.

Website visitors: details you choose to give us through forms, enquiries or promotions, and general website usage information (see "Cookies and advertising").

We only use personal information for the purpose we collected it for, unless you agree otherwise or the law allows it.

Your child's learning

Each child's information is kept in a folder that only their Educator/Nanny and family can access. Learning notes and photos are shared through Mana, in line with the consent each family gives us. We never enter children's names, photos or identifying information into AI tools that Nurtured at Home has not approved.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We only share it when we need to, for example with the Ministry of Education for funding, with the Education Review Office (ERO), with the Police for vetting, or where the law requires it or a child's safety is at risk.

How we keep it safe

Original enrolment and Educator/Nanny records are held at our main office, which is locked and alarmed outside business hours.

Online files are only accessible to key personnel, and all computers, tablets and phones are password protected.

Enrolment records are kept for at least 7 years after a child leaves, in secure offsite storage. Other records are kept only as long as needed or required by law.

When records are no longer needed, they are securely destroyed. Identifying information is never put in a rubbish or recycling bin.

Our employees and Educators/Nannies receive privacy training at induction and on an ongoing basis.

Privacy breaches

If a privacy breach causes, or is likely to cause, serious harm, we will notify the Office of the Privacy Commissioner and the people affected as soon as practicable.
