About Nurtured at Home

Nurtured at Home began in 2014, and it’s been an incredible journey since. From our small beginnings to now covering all of Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawke’s Bay, Gisborne, Taranaki, Manawatū-Whanganui, Wairarapa, and Wellington, we’ve remained committed to our Philosophy of ‘children are our first priority’.

We’re an established, experienced and quality early childhood home-based service, and we couldn’t have done this without the support of our Educators and families/whānau, for which we are extremely grateful.

For those considering joining the Nurtured at Home team as a parent or Educator, we invite you to partner with us and become part of our journey.

Our Journey

February 2014

After months of planning in the background, Petra Navanua officially opened Nurtured at Home with the first Educators in Auckland. This region grew rapidly, and we worked hard to ensure Educators and families had the best support from Visiting Teachers and administrators, some of whom are still with Nurtured at Home today!

2014

October 2016

Our commitment to excellence saw us awarded Winners of the Westpac Service Excellence Awards and Finalist in the Supreme Business of the Year Award! This was recognition of all the hard work that our Educators, Visiting Teachers and support staff put in each and every day to ensure that “children are our first priority”.

February 2019

This month, we celebrated our five-year anniversary! Since our start in 2014, Nurtured at Home has expanded to provide quality care and education in regions throughout the North Island. Thank you to all our staff, Educators, and families who have supported us.

December 2021

Nurtured at Home is committed to supporting organisations that are close to our hearts and provide support in the community. Over the past years, we have donated to Women’s Refuge, Trees That Count, Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day, and Gumboot Friday, to mention a few. We’ll continue to support community organisations that make a difference for families and their children.

2021

June 2023

We work hard to ensure good things are happening for children. From Nurtured at Home playgroups and monthly Discovery Days, to professional development opportunities and resources, we are committed to supporting Educators with a range of additional benefits so they can provide a quality curriculum for children.

2023

September 2024

Nurtured at Home started in 2014, and this year we’re celebrating our 10 year anniversary! Looking to the future, we’re excited to see how we can add value to the homebased early childhood sector by supporting Visiting Teachers and Educators to provide innovative and quality early learning experiences for all tamariki and their families/whānau.

May 2025

This month is our 1-year anniversary of new owners, Josh Powell and Gary Romano. Like Petra and Aaron, Josh and Gary believe in engaging in partnerships within Nurtured at Home and the wider national and international communities, to share combined knowledge, resources, and passion to set the foundation for each child to reach their full potential. They are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Our Guiding Principles

These are the fabric of our culture and the basis for all decisions made within our business. If it doesn’t fit with our principles, then we don’t do it.

Nurture a love of learning for all those associated with Nurtured at Home, through ongoing research, quality resources, best practice and being part of the community within which we exist.

To engage in partnerships within Nurtured at Home and the wider community, to share our combined knowledge, resources and passion to set the foundation for each individual child to reach their full potential.

Our mission is to create a nurturing and safe workplace where individuals feel valued, and genuine partnerships are built through thoughtful and mindful practices. We strive to lead by example, championing best practices while mentoring and engaging with communities to elevate the quality of Early Childhood Education. With a deep commitment to altruism, we aim to meaningfully support initiatives that emphasise the vital role of our youngest children in shaping society.
